EXACTLY KEN...........the rep points mean NOTHING........in fact 6 months or so, Jeff took em away, because of the broo haha it created........the green tiles come from other members here you feel you helped out in some great way to their smoking...........you don't get em from the amount of posts you get.........so i have to dis agree with you Rich on that..........there is a sticky on this very topic some where here.........i will look it up and post here

ok fellas... I feel really dumb right now... I didnt know any of this... I assumed rep power was just do to number of posts.... I have noticed my # go up a few times and didnt think much of it... after reading this checked my user cp and found alot of nice comments

This thing's beat to death! Hell when I was a newb, I asked these same questions, got mostly the same answers... But I do recall this: I noticed I was close to 100 points awarded me by users. I was not near a milestone post (200, 300 whatever. The next points I received from a member pushed me over 100 points, and my rep power went up by one. Now sitting at 2. Then a week later I crossed the milestone post of 100 and gained one more rep power, up to three. Noticed it again when the poin total users gave me topped 200. rep power went up by one. Seems to me they are related. don't know how I increased my green dots. That's my observation. My interpretation is this: If you post a jammin thread that is informative, creative, or just plain great lookin q-view, another member can recognize you by awarding you points. The points that you award are equal to the rep power you have accumulated. Splain please? I have rep power of 11. I give any of you points, your points awarded goes up by 11. What does it mean? Absolutly nothing more than anyone looking at this site can see in a post you made that you are a major contributor to this forum and probably know what you are talking about in one glance at your displayed rep power. If Richtee, having like 65 rep points, gives me some advice in a post I ask a question in and I haven't been here long enough to know rich's reputation as a smoking god, I can assume he is giving good advice!

One more way to look at it then I'll shut up, receiving points from someone clearly shows that someone saw some form greatness in whatever you did, said or shared to the collective group. The points, though you cant sell them or buy anything, is the tangible award that you receive, beyond the an "atta-boy, comments people leave in response to what you posted. I think they really do help identify you as an active, respected member of this forum.

This is the most I typed since my 10th grade biology term paper! I'm done! Actually, I'm about to fall off my soap box, so I'll carefully step down!

Maybe there's a cap on the total amount of points you can give in a day, If the cap is a, say 30, Rich can only give once. When my 24 hour clock clears, I can give my 13 points three times. Well, yesterday I could give my 12 points. I cracked 1000 posts and my rep went to 13. Green dots, if i remember, increased by one when my awarded points capped 100, then increased by one when I capped 200 points. I'm gettin close to 300 points awarded, will monitor what happens with the dots if I make it to 300 and post the results here!

hehhe i hear ya wayside only problem is that ain't one of mine.me and my wife started taking pics beside grills and smokers when ever we travel,and eventually plan on hanging them in our b-b-q shack,kinda of a grills across america wall!! silly but we've had alot of fun doing it.....hope this don't take no points away!! lol
