I am seeking some advice or opinion. Each year the small town I live in population 800 has a festival that raises money for the old main street. My wife is on the comittee and I suggested to her that we have a
BBQ contest and maybe bring more people in. Has anyone ever organized somthing like this? Do you just give away trophies for bragging rights? Any comments on how to go about this will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

I have never organized one, but I do compete in one very similar to what you describe every year and they give away a small cash prize with a trophy.

It is mostly about bragging rights, but the cash prize helps bring in teams that otherwise wouldn't bother coming. They generally get 15 - 20 teams, mostly locals looking for bragging rights, but they do have 2 or 3 outside teams, which IMHO tends to make it a little more interesting.

Good Luck

The KCBS looks like a good idea, not sure if we can afford to have a offical event yet. I am going to call them and seek advice thanks again for the link.

Well even if you can do an official contest yet. There are still plenty of good tips you can "borrow" from them...haha

Good luck on the event and make sure you take pictures!!
