hello all. I’m been looking at building a cold smoker and found these shipping crates locally: https://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/grd/d/wood-crates/6712897402.html

They are made from untreated lumber. I plan on using a Smoke Daddy P.I.G smoke generator.

I was thinking about adding burners to have the option of using it as a heat smoker for jerky, summer sausage, etc, but not sure if that’s possible without burning the whole thing down or whether it would even hold heat.

Anyway, let me know if I’m barking up the right tree or if I need to scrap this idea.

Thanks in advance.

Cold smoking would be fine. Hot smoking depends on the heat source. Standing on end you could probably get away with an electric coil plate.
