the probes on my maverick ET has taken on a lot of smoke and is slowly turning black.

Any advice on cleaning these things?

I'm thinking to really clean it I would need some kind of abrasive, will that ruin the probe?

Do I need to clean it at?

gracias

I always clean mine with some baking soda and a dry paper towel. I just make a heavy past from the soda and use it on the paper towel. The probes shine right up. A little soap and water to ensure they're sanitary for the next use and that's it.

I have two methods.

Use the grill grate brush from the gas grill (preferred method), or go and find the probe in the yard after the dog has licked it spotless (not kidding)

Both methods, seem to have no adverse affect on the probe functionality
