Every post, thread or article I have read seems to lean towards soap and water for cleaning porcelian grates.  I have to say this is a major pain if this is the only way to keep these grates clean.  Can you use a soft, brass brush to scrap the chunks, grime off or are they just that delicate that you can't put metal to them at all?  I'm used to SS so this is a new ballgame for me.

Thanks in advance!

I don't have porcelain grates, but like you I've always been told to wash in soap & water. Will the grates fit in your dishwasher?
