I take a piece of metal and scrap it out. I catch as much as I can with drip pans tho

About once a year I'll take the grates and baffle plates out and use a small dustpan to scrape out the worst of it along with a whole bunch of paper towels.
It's a nasty job, which is why I only do it about once a year

Wow, that was a lot of accumulated grease. Yes, it should absolutely be cleaned and like other said would be a huge grease fire hazard.

People keep recommending that Purple Power. I have looked everywhere, but can't find it. I even tried ordering it online, and while Amazon took the order, it was later canceled because the vendor didn't actually have the product.

Where can I buy this stuff? (I'm in California.)

Try your local auto parts store for purple power. Also my Home Depot carries it, but I see it all the time in the auto parts stores.
