In between breaks for my ol' knees, I spent a coupla' hours today cutting and splitting maple into small chunks. I got about a half bucket full so far.

I have several pieces in the wood box under the stove in the house that I set aside. I've still got this to cut and chunk.

Maple is probably the hardest wood to split when it is dry. Looks good so make some nice Quein

I cut it into 2 inch sections on the band saw and then split it with a hatchet. Pops right open, easy as pie.

My axe swingin' days are long gone. "Arthur" got in my knees and elbows, so I've gotten smarter than a piece of wood.
