So it works incredibly well with amnps, it is adjustable speed and provides as little or as much airflow needed. I found that by using this, I have less “burn outs” and much more consistent tbs. I have also discovered that if you drink too much and forget to turn the fan speed down it is very effective at burning all the pellets at once. I have had great success with this mod for over 3 years, and I was hopeful the mes40 would like it too. I don’t use it when it’s below freezing, as the 800w element in the mes30 struggles to get to temp. New smoker arrives tomorrow, hoping to test the mod, get it seasoned, and first cook this weekend

Interesting idea!
I do hope it all goes very well for you. You can email the piece of Jerky when your air inducer fits right up to the 40. :D
Any thoughts about an air filter for it?

My baby sister use to breed dogs. Her moto was, "Everything's better with Dog Hair in it!"
I'll just leave you with that thought... LOL!

Lol! I never considered filtering the air, but it could easily be done. I have smoked lotsa stuff with no filter over the years ;)

I would guess they're the same, but I never checked to be sure.
I sold my First MES 30, and only have MES 40s since.

I'm thinking if you would box in the fan with and adjustable damper on the bottom of said "box" and maybe a seal on the back side of said "box" contacting the side of the smoker you would have better control in windy conditions?

When it’s windy I just leave the unit in place without turning it on. Plenty of airflow on windy days.

Okay

I was thinking there could be times where there's too much air. Between the fan speed controller and adjustable damper it would/could be a smoother ride? Sorry, not trying to re-engineer your gadget.

When the amnps doesn’t have sufficient air flow and “burns out”, as in stops smoking

Oh, terminology. I would have thought smothers itself. (Lacks air to support combustion.)
I guess that must have been enough of a problem to spark your idea...
I like the multi speed idea. I'm using a stack on mine. But I've added a mod so my fuel is outside my box.
You know, you are very close to a computer controllable burn. Photo voltaic exhaust monitoring controls fan speed to increase/decrease air flow.
If you wanted to go there....

Yesterday I made ~ 4-5 gallons of fine Oak curls for fuel down the road, and tested them. They didn't burn to ash like the pellets and chip combination. But they went for several hours drafting at mid-70's box temperature. TBS
I may need to dry them more using Daveomak's idea of baking them in the Smoker/Oven at 275 degrees
I believe I've arrived at my ideal smoker. Anywhere from ambient, up to hot smoking, which was my hopes.

Let's see, today is when your Brand New MES 40 arrives, yes? Have fun with your new bigger smoker! :D

Interesting idea! If I make this thing too automatic, the wife might question my beer or bourbon drinking all day on the weekend :D;)

Oh No!! I hate to see that !!!
I had a $2000 Honda Generator get here with FedEx. The box looked like they rolled it all the way from Ohio.
Both Handles were Bent & one of the feet was smashed in. Got new parts sent.
