so I just got some hickory mini logs and they work great...I have looked everywhere I can think of and I cant seem to find cherry mini logs. does anyone know of a brand that has them?
Are the mini logs you have by Western Woods? I saw that Academy has a bunch of these in multiple flavors (and offers free shipping for large orders too). I was thinking of ordering some hickory and oak.
The one flavor they don't have is cherry... which is actually my most abundant wood. I have a 4x8 rack of nothing but cherry currently seasoning.
If your mini logs are the Western brand, how do you like them? And approximately what size are they? I am just a little skeptical since I've never seen them in person and I'm afraid they wouldn't be big enough for my pit since I use mostly wood as a heat source.
yeah its western mini logs and they work really good....there are a few "chunks" in there but they are about 1 ft long by about 4 wide...I have no complaints about them so far but I'm not using them for the fire I'm using them like I would chunk above the briquettes and when they are done smoking I add them to the smolder
Gotcha. I usually start my fire with a 1.5 chimney of lit charcoal, then add sticks from there. One stick that is 12"-15" long and 3-5" wide will get me about 30-45 minutes of burn time.
