This is what I heard when I walked into the house the other day. The Sound of Silence. :emoji_astonished: :emoji_astonished: :emoji_astonished:
We've had our 2 year old grandson staying with us for the last 3 1/2 months. His mother lives in Calgary, which is the Covid hot spot for Alberta, so we figured he'd be a lot better off staying with us out in the bush. Definitely the right decision as the death toll kept rising in Calgary. This week we talked to his Mom and agreed that it was probably OK for him to go home, so Miss Linda got him all packed up and headed for Calgary.
Both of us thoroughly enjoyed having the young'un stay with us, but.......as you can imagine, having a full of piss and vinegar, inexhaustible 2 year old in the house can be just a tad disruptive for an old man like me. From the second he got up in the morning until he went to bed at night, there was no such thing as quiet time. He's much like his Mom--if his eyes are open, so is his mouth. Every morning when he got up, we watched 1 1/2 hours of Wiggles (a really excellent Australian show for kids) and every night before bed we watched another 1 hour of the show. Several times I caught myself humming Twinkle, twinkle little star as I stepped out of the shower!!
Life, for the last 1/4 of a year was certainly anything but boring. Now we have to get used to NOT having him around. Seems kinda strange.
I did learn one very important life message from his time here. One that us men don't think about much. That is--mothers are very special people. A lot tougher than us guys. They devote 100% of their waking time and effort 24/7 to looking after the kids, whereas us guys get to leave all that behind for 10 or 12 hours a day by going to work.
God bless all mothers (and especially single moms).
Now, if you will excuse me, I'm just going to kick back and listen to that sound. :emoji_blush: :emoji_blush: :emoji_blush:
