Coscto had both and both were choice. The standing rib roast had 4 bones and was half the size or smaller than the boneless prime rib roasts, but cost more.

Wondering why?

The way I read it.. he' saying the 4 bone roast is smaller and cost more than the bigger boneless roast ...
That's exactly what I meant. I have always seen the boneless 1-2 dollars a pound less. The bone-in was half the size and cost more?????

Bone in rib roast makes me think of the Flintstones.

Were both actually prime grade?

The reason......That would be Instagram .....Rib on PR spinning is a thing at the moment, so demand is up, lots of peps that have never even tasted a PR are buying them just to take pictures.....LOL

I say this in jest, but seriously I overheard a conversation at Costco 2 weeks ago that left me shaking my head...This guy was giving the meat guy a little work over cause he wanted a 6 bone 8 lb rib on roast for his NY dinner and he was frustrated they didn't have one in stock. Never mind he was wanting to buy his RR 5 weeks prior....next the meat guy just nicely says come back a week before NY and we will cut it for you.....The guy then says so are you sure you will have them in stock by then, I don't want to mess my dinner up.....The meat guy says NO we will cut it exactly the way you want it but not till the week before (pointing to the 15 vac paks of full RR in the refer)....He grunted and walked away mumbling they never have what I need in stock......

The only problem is when you buy the boneless whole ribeye, they take the rib cap off, which in my opinion is the best part of the ribeye. I would go bone in. But that’s just me!

I almost bought standing prime rib from Costco today. $11.69/lbs. My wife called to say Meijer had it for $6.49/lbs. Both choice. We grabbed the Meijer PR.

Anyone with experience with Meijer prime rib? Compared with Costco PR?
