We use for the most part only oak from the trees we trim on the property. Ours is usually aged, but not always dry. We do not have a place set up yet to keep it dry. I do have a container where that has a lid, but the bottom is mesh like and it seems to do a good job of keeping it dryish. Another wood that he may find is some citrus. I really like the mix of orange and oak. I know North Florida will have pecan trees in some areas, so keep an eye out for those as well. Free wood is a good thing!!!Guess I need to get hubby to start splitting and stacking oak to let it season. He does site prep after the logging crew finishes a spot and they only go after the pine so he pushes over and burns everything else and of course here in Florida there's oaks everywhere
