Building a smoker

Hello-  so I am building a vertical smoker. the smoke chamber dimensions are 30" round by 48 tall. I was wondering if there would be any problems with building my fire box directly below the smoke chamber. Most verticals i have seen, the fire box is off to one side. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
