Building a new smoker

I'm building a 46 by 24 by 24 virticle smoker with offset fire box.I am building the fire box 24 by 24,and was wandering what the opening to the cook chamber needs to be ,and how high to mount it up on the cook chamber. Thanks in advance.

Can my opening to the cook chamber be oversized,or should it be spot on.

How much oversized? I have read you want to be within about 10% of hose numbers
