Yes I did Chris,forgot to list that.Actually,I didn't remove it,I never put it in....Did you remove the heat sheild? I don't have a 14, but I heard it limits the space for ash.

The first year has been documented here pretty well,by no means every cook,but a good cross section though.I shall continue to update!Since I just got the 26" kettle it's going to be a while before I can talk the wife into a 14", but it's the perfect size for just the two of us. Wishing you continued good luck and good smokes with that 14. Keep us updated.

You should do the plate man,it really does work great.Unfortunately it is a bit bigger than "scrap" that you need to cut it out of.I need to get around to the solid disc mod you did . I did put wheels on mine . Took alot of adjusting to get it right . Changed the lid therm , even though the stock one was good . Fastened the grate to the ring with ss clips .
Really runs good on the RO .
