I have a Merry Tiller that is 35 - 40 years old and was looking it. It still runs link a top, and starts on the 3rd pull after sitting all winter.

So I decided to give it a real good cleaning, face lift and service.

Below are my pictures before, during and after

Needed a work table, Ask #2 son to throw me something together, So he built me

this with wheels

My Old Merry Tiller, Just looks rough, but works great

Siphoning the 140 wt  out of the chain case

Starting to tear it down

Need new Grips

Another Pic      Still not bad for almost 40 years old

Curing Booth

Paint Booth  (When it's not to windy)

Sprayed  with engine de-greaser then with water  hose  (A couple of Times)

Finally got it clean enough to suit me

Getting a few nuts and bolts painted

Getting some paint on it

A little moe paint

I didn't get pics of me putting it back together, but here it is

Merry Tiller sent me a complete decal kit, Found me some Foam type

Grips at the Bike Shop, Briggs and Stratton decals shoul be here this week.

Waiting on engine decals,  Other than that ready to go

My wife said it's too pretty to get dirty, I told Oh  -  I'm not going to use it, It's a show Tiller

I'll borrow my neighbors when I need to Till. She wasn't' sure If I was serious or just messing with her

Just got the engine decals  Finished !!

Looks great, Gary. I haven't thought about Merry Tiller in many years. I guess that shows OUR age. Is your son still doing OK? Been keeping you all in my thoughts. Joe.

Thanks everyone, I'm pretty proud of the way it turned out.

Yep, #2 son is a pretty good fabricator, also #1 son is too.  I ask him to grab some 2x4's and just throw together a temp. table. He said you are always tinkering with something so this will last and roll in and out of the garage.  We are building another RF smoker right now.

Thanks Guys !!      On to another project.

My first tiller a few years ago was an old(older than me) front tine wizard from western auto it looks pretty similar to that one, down here in the hard red clay that front tine dang near turned me against gardening lol.  Now I have a rear tine wizard still older than me but it digs in deep.  Yours looks awesome kinda makes me want to fix my old work horse up.

Thanks,   Hard ground or roots, you better hold on, Kinda like wrestling an alligator

LOL----I just remembered what you mean.

When I was young & just fresh out of the Army, I borrowed one of those to make a garden.

The ground was never tilled before----The thing was jumping off the ground at least a foot !!!

Good thing I was young & in Great shape----Just hold on---Yeeeeehaaaaaw!!!

Good job gary!

I especially liked the decals, the American Flag on the wall, and the stacks of Kingsford Blue!

Good luck and good smoking.
