Water boils at 212°F, 100°C, 671.4°R and 373°K. My water heater is set at 120°F and does not boil.

As a home brewer, I'm very well aware of water boiling temp. My question to you is, what's your point?

The point is that he keeps it turned down so as not to have the children scald themselves. (works for me)

The boiling point of water is a good way to test your thermometer's accuracy. Put the temp probe in the boiling water, don't submerse the whole thing though, some can be damaged. Check your gauge to see what it reads, it should be very close to 213 degrees. The boiling point will go up or down a little depending on your altitude but you can find out theactual  boiling point at your altitude by googling it, it's easy to find the math. If your meter is off you'll know for sure. I use a Maverick with dual probes & they read within 1 degree of each other & are + or- 2 degrees from boiling point.

   I been getting them lately...JJ

My water boils at 202* really screwed me up when I was checking my brand new thermometer. Then I remembered I live a mile above sea level and that's how science works.

You never realize how slow you are until you are googling what temperature water boils at in your home state. I learned 212 my whole life for every equation I ever had to do on paper. And I grew up here in Colorado. Funny stuff. I should switch my thermometer to Celsius or kelvin because that would really screw me up.

Just in case I wasn't confused enough....ignorance is bliss and I am ecstatic!

Fun thread!
