We had quite a day too in Fort Worth; it snowed all day until about 7 pm, but also the winds were 45-50mph; broke both my doors at the RadioShack I manage on Camp Bowie (tore the retaining chains out and bent the brackets holding the door closers). I'll have a heck of a time with them blowing open tomorrow! We only got 5" of snow, but in FW that's a 'blizzard' to them.
The worst thing was they didn't allow us to close early, and after closing we had an hour's worth of setup to do for the day-after ad, so we didn't leave until about 8pm, long after most of the traffic got off the roads. By then it's in the low 20's and what was slushed up crap on the roads earlier now is re-frozen into a sheet of ice. I'm a 46 yr veteran of NNY winters and very experienced winter driver, and had one helluva time trying to get home safely. Had we been allowed to leave at 4 or 5 pm when there was a lot more traffic, the roads would not have been anywhere near as tretcherous as they were that late at night. I finally made it home safely but almost wiped out twice and went sideways about a dozen times; normally a 12 mi. 20 min. drive turned into an hour and 15 min. skating contest. Didn't have studded snows, would have loved to have had 'em!
