Anyone with experience with using black walnut for smoking? I know someone who is clearing some property and said he had some for sale. He is thinking fireplace wood but was wondering if it is a desirable wood for smoking meats.

I would be really careful. I know that walnut is severely allergic for horses, can kill them if they are bedded in it, and I had heard it's not good for humans. Some people have an allergic reaction similar to a peanut allergy. That's what I have heard at least.
