Hello all,

I'm new to smoking so this may seem a little amateur for all the veterans out there.  Beer can chicken is really easy to prepare and tastes great.  The base recipe I used is at the following link: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/guy-fieri/big-buds-beer-can-chicken-recipe/index.html

If I recall correctly, I cooked this guy at 275 (External temp) for about 2 hours.  I added three bay leaves to the beer can along with garlic and used thick cut bacon for the wrapping.  Unfortunately I only took one picture but will add more the next time I make it.

That looks very nice...You may consider Brining the Bird next time. Brine adds moisture, tenderness and a lot of flavor. It gives some wiggle room if something goes wrong and you over cook a bit, the Bird will still be moist...JJ

Families Favorite Brine

1/2C Kosher Salt

2T Paprika

2T Gran. Garlic

2T Gran. Onion

2T Dry Thyme

2T Black Pepper

1C Vinegar (Any)

1-11/2Gal Cold Water to cover Chix

1T Red Pepper Flake Optional

Mix well and Soak the Bird for 24 Hours.

Remove the Chix, rinse if desired and pat dry with paper towels.

Place in an open container in the refrigerator overnight or up to 24 hours for the Skin to dry.

This will give a crispier skin when Smokng or Roasting...
