I should have taken a pic. Sorry.

I was cruising through Costco and saw "Beef Ribs" not dinos, these were thin and way less expensive. Like around $25 a rack of maybe 8 (again should have looked longer). Are these beef spare ribs? If so, do these cook out to tender? They seemed a little boney/not very meaty.

Insights welcome

The ones around here actually have a lot of meat between the bones. I have a post on here somewhere

thanks for tracking that down. the ones I saw had to beef spares.

This is the ones I cooked. 2 chunks in the package for under 12 bucks

I think thats them, they were thinner and not real heavy and kinda the same shape.

Might try them if they still have some next time im down there. I fist thought they were dinos till I picked them up and saw the price and felt the weight.

I would do them again. I enjoyed them so I would try them if you get a chance.

Many thanks, I wasnt sure when I saw them... Im sure ill be down there in a week or two.

After doing them once, my opinion was a lot of effort for the amount of meat you end up with. I've stuck with full plate ribs (Dino Bones) since.

Maybe back ribs . I season them and just grill direct like steak .

I picked up a package of beef ribs the other day. They looked similar to a pack of pork spare ribs so I guess I will go with that. I was planning on doing them on the Traeger but with the snow, ice, and rain I just did them in the oven. Made up a rub of salt, pepper, granulated garlic and onion. 4 hours at 225, checked them at 3 and they did not look like they were browning up probably because of no smoke or sugar in the rub. Wrapped them in foil for 2 hours at 225 and when I open them up the bones pulled out. The wife loved them and wants them again so next time they will go on the grill. Seems like the meat to fat and bone ratio was on the low side so for us it was one rack for the two of us. Pictures of uncooked and cooked.

If you want good dino ribs there's place in Strasburg that sells them and boy were they amazing. They're very rich too.

They do ship but the car drive is worth it.

@MileHighSmokerGirl on man I love the dinos! I have a great butcher in Wheat Ridge. Edwards Meats. I have to limit my visits, good stuff there for sure. Butcher prices are hard to choke down.

Your Dinos look amazing!

Dino's do look good! ....but that can of Spider & Scorpion killer needs a better place vs right next to yummy food.

They are the back ribs, most are trimmed too much but if you keep and eye out you can find some that have more meat than less.....

Here is a post on a cook of them. If you can find one with the trim as the post they are very tasty!
