I just heard there was some kind of trade deal with China that was causing beef prices to once again go up..
Not to sure in the details.. just heard a snippet on the news a week ago.

I recently noticed that brisket prices here by me have gone up a dollar or more per pound in the last few months everywhere . Some places are saying that the increase is due to popularity of the brisket now..
Evidently everybody and their brother now have smokers and buy full packers in my area. [emoji]128078[/emoji] [emoji]128074[/emoji]..

Yeah, back when there was the mad cow disease scare, China shut down imports of American beef.  They're over it now and are opening their markets to American beef again.

Its always something causing meat prices to rise.  Mad cow, drought, feed issues, bird flu, baby pig disease, etc.  I just shift my eating habits to the lowest cost protein.  Back when the drought in the mid-west drove beef prices through the roof, we sure ate a lot of chicken and pork.  Now that herd stocks are recovering, they are looking to open other markets to drive up prices.  That's capitalism.

Out here in California, there's always a refinery fire during the peak of the summer driving season.  One refinery gets shut down for months, driving prices up overnight.  My wife and I have always joked those refinery fires are just too well timed to be coincidental.
