Same with fishing. If it makes anyone feel better, I hunt deer each year and one time I decided to calculate all the costs for my "hobby" and turned out that my deer meat came out to about $45 a lb LOL!!!
In my defense, I bought a Kawasaki mule that year so it skewed the costs a bit but don't let anyone tell you they save money hunting unless they don't have to pay for the land and they process it themselves![]()
Checked zip 29572. Looks like that's a digital coupon. I'm going to have to see if it will work up here. Good till 5/26!Just went through the sales in my area (Myrtle Beach SC), Kroger has whole Brisket on sale this week...$2.99lbs
I hear that. We have two custom meat markets and one stocks seafood including Canadian walleye fillets. We have 3 reservoirs within a 70 mile radius that have walleye.... the market price is still a better value.Same with fishing.
For saltwater (at least here) just the opposite. It is infinitely cheaper to go catch than it is to buy especially with stripers, fluke(flounder),scup and even bluefish these days. Same with non market fish like tautog, black seabass. If using a boat that kind of changes things especially right now but lots of people these days are using yaks.Same with fishing.
That's exactly what I do. I ended up with 6 Briskets (2 me, 2 my wife, and 2 my daughter). 2 weeks ago I bought a 24lbs Chuck roll for $4.89 lbs from the Chef's Store and split it up got a couple of Chuck eye steaks, a few Denver steaks, a couple chuck roast, and some grinding meat. I can't believe in my retirement years I'm spending time chasing sales.thats a great deal on brisket!!!!! id be grinding some steak burgers if i was you. chuck burger here is 549 a pound. the brisket grind would be even better im sure.
Ssshhh. What if someone's wife reads this and now you just blew one of their hunting reasons, lol.If it makes anyone feel better, I hunt deer each year and one time I decided to calculate all the costs for my "hobby" and turned out that my deer meat came out to about $45 a lb LOL!!!

Just noticed the coupon says, "For select markets only", so probably not. But it's still worth a try. Last time, my coupon didn't work, so I asked the clerk to void the sale. He looked at the coupon on my phone, and did an override to give it to me anyway.Checked zip 29572. Looks like that's a digital coupon. I'm going to have to see if it will work up here. That is an excellent deal. My Sam's Club has chuck rolls at just over $6/lb. They are listed on a small white board in the meat department and never are in the meat case. The majority are sold to restaurants that grind their own burger.2 weeks ago I bought a 24lbs Chuck roll for $4.89 lbs from the Chef's Store and split it up got a couple of Chuck eye steaks, a few Denver steaks, a couple chuck roast, and some grinding meat
I hear ya! I had a similar experience at Costco. The news about beef costs is not encouraging. Was thinking about doing a brisket this weekend. Went to the store and they only had one left. Pretty small sized. I didn't even look at how much it weighed after I saw the price. $109.99I settled for hot dogs.
