I've been using Todd's Pellets in my MES 30 / AMNPS, and they have worked absolutely perfect.  Under most situations I would not consider using another brand of pellets as I don't want to mess up a good thing.  But with that said my neighbor is moving and he is trying to sell about 80-100 pounds of hickory BBQrs Delight pellets for $.50 a pound.  Seems like a great deal if they are good pellets and will work in my AMNPS.  Anybody used them that can comment on their quality.

Thanks

Just found on BBQrs Delight website that the pellets are 2/3 oak and 1/3 hickory.  Not sure now as I thought they were 100% of the listed wood.

Tell him they are not 100% smoke wood and offer $ .25 a pound. Though I have no experience with them, they should work with a slightly different flavor. They could also use these to " stretch " a batch of Todd's Hickory pellets...JJ

Never used them but Todd has small bags of those listed on his website now as well.  He has them listed as grilling pellets.  My guess is he thinks they will burn ok.  People smoke with both oak & Hickory, probably even blend them too.  You know their composition so you can plan for it.

I've used blended pellets in the amnps to cold smoke items such as cheese. I thought they worked well, but yeah the flavor profile may not be as specific to the species such as with chunks. Also 50 cents a pound works out to 10 bucks a 20 pound bag. I pay 11 - 12 bucks new, I'd offer him 7. That's what i was thinking of asking if/when i get rid of my pellet pooper.

I use Lumber Jack brand and have had great results.  Not quite sure how they compare in price.   I paid $38.75 for a 40lb bag of 100% Cherry and $43.56 for 100% Apple.  Here is a link the prices change all the time.

For Maple and Oak, I just remove the bark and chip a few fallen branches.

I have tried the Lumber Jack brand pellets and find that when compared to Todd's  Pit Master blend, the Pit Master gives a better flavor.

I just wish that Todd would sell larger bags of pellets for us ''Costco" shoppers who like to buy in bulk and save a few bucks.

I agree with you their "flavor" pellets leave something to be desired.  I do like the 100% cherry and 100% apple.  I will have to try Todd's when I run low on the lumber jack brand.  Thanks for the advise

I do sell 20# and 40# bags, but shipping is a killer......

If you're interested, drop me a PM with your zip code and I'll get you a price delivered
