BBQ Yard Bird - leg quarters

It perplexes me that the single best piece of chicken is also the most affordable. The lovely 10 lb bag of Leg Quarters. Back in the day we could catch them on sale for $0.19 a pound but even today $0.69 a pound for juicy dark meat chicken.

My favorite way to season it is a healthy dose of garlic salt on the bottom, extra fine salt on the skin along with granulated garlic. I sauced these with a tangy concoction and let it set up before I pulled. Did these in the offset at 350°f using hickory splits. Pulled at an average of 193°f I.T.

Have a loaf of rye bread in the oven and some scratch mac and cheese wrapping up shortly to go with.
