Beef Stock is used , and some make a secret mixture to shove in it , personally , I like the original flavor of the meat and don't poke holes in my meat.
Keeping it simple is my strategy and it works for me...
I've tried a couple different injections. My favorites are beef broth mixed with bbq sauce and beef broth with gelatin added to it. The gelatin mixture made a subtle but substantial difference in my opinion. I did a small flat and it was very moist, while others I'd done the same way without injecting had been pretty dry.
Yeah, folks will tell you you're cheating and if you knew what you were doing you wouldn't need an injection, but I say if it makes life easier why not use it.
