This weekend I bought a Masterbuilt elite 40" extra wide 2 door propane smoker from Bass Pro.
Bass Pro offers product protection on their items. Has anyone taken out this protection and how good was it?
My smoker was $279CAN and product protection was $70CAN, so 25% of the value.
The sales woman said at any time in the first 2 years if it breaks, or I break it, they will give me a new one. Just make a straight swap. No replacing parts or anything like that. (Is it really that simple and easy?)
I paid the $70 for the protection, what do you think, good or bad move? Has anyone dealt with the Bass Pro product protection, in US or Canada and how did you find it?
Thanks

Never been a fan of buying extended warranties, as they're laden with red tape and loopholes that allow for too many escape routes for the manufacturer and are merely a profit center for them.  Most of the recommendations I've seen are to steer clear of them.  Many credit cards allow for double the manufacturer's warranty, and that's what I've collected on a couple of occasions with no questions asked.  Best warranty is one that you don't have to try and utilize, imho.

My brother purchased a 3 yr warranty with a gas grill he got from Walmart. Its a third party company. Not actually thru Walmart but purchased at Walmart at the same time as the grill.
The coverage started after the 1yr manufacturer warranty ended.

Last month, 3..5 yrs later, he called to get some parts that rusted out. They opened a claim and said the parts would be shipped. A week later, he gets a letter, stating that grill has been discontinued, and parts are no longer available. Inside was a Walmart gift card for the original price of the grill.

Your mileage may vary...

Sounds like a SquareTrade warranty. They're usually pretty good. I avoid most of them though.
