I've wanted to cook a whole lamb on an asado cross for longer than I care to remember. I'm in the UK and live in sheep country so I've got easy access to the lamb, I just need something to cook it on.
I've just been cutting the parts and mocking up some pieces so far, but I'm at a stage where I can make a start welding. Hopefully, you will get the gist of how its going to fit together. The 'cross' in the pics is a mini mock up, I'd never tapped a thread into anything before so I wanted to play around before 'committing. I'm going belt and braces on the adjustable limbs of the cross by tapping the hole but then welding a nut on as well.
For stability, rather than having a large base or long permanent legs, my plan is to weld some tube to the base (as in the mock up) and then just slide a couple of lengths of rebar into the tube to counter balance the whole set up.
I'm pretty new to metalworking, so any comments/suggestions will always be welcomed.
