I heard this technique of mixing woods and resulting in better flavors. Never tried,, so Im going to smoke a pig booty and wondering if any of yall ever mixed apple and maple together in the smoker with pork? Thought I'd ask before hand , I don't want to ruin the flavor.

I'm not a big fan of either of those woods, but I'm in the minority there. My preference when it comes to pork is orange wood. I've also had really good luck mixing 2/3 pecan with 1/3 mesquite with pork loin.

not sure about better flavors but it isn't going to ruin your cook, i used to mix wood when i used my offset not because of flavor but it was what i had laying around the yard i used sometimes straight sometimes mixed, apple, maple, ash and hickory. got to say straight hickory was always my favorite.
