Find expanded metal for charcoal baskets on the Home Depot website ? I know kinda a lame subject , but I want to do a little comparison shopping without doi'n the walkabout. In search, I have tried 'expanded metal ' , ' sheet metal ' , ' metal stock ' e.t.c. . zero results. What gives ? I know they got it.

Not sure how much you need or what type, (I'm guessing stainless because galvinized is a no no), but the sheet stock at HD is way over priced. I'm not surprised you can't find it on the net because the price changes a lot because of the demand for metal.

If you just need enough to line a charcoal basket do what I did. I bought $2 large cookie sheet pans at a discount store and cut them up, they worked great!! You can get even larger ones from a used restaurant equipment stores.

Not the best place to shop for metal..
the small place I live has several metal stores. Guess i would look in the yellow pages under metal. then give em a call are see if the have a webb site to check inventory on..we have a new one that just opened ..every thing is in a huge building. all the metal is silver colored as no rust on it..pretty cool.
hope it helps..

our HD didnt have the expanded metal, but I did find it at a TSC (tractor supply co.) in 2x2 and 2x1. If you got one of them close by check there. Good luck.

Oh do I feel like a idiot, I was think sheet not expanded metal, my bad.

I know you shouldn't use wire lathe stuff that is used on the side of houses to hold stucco. A person I know used that many years ago as a grill and it melted.

Thanks E ! Great link. Have been getting it at o.s.h. Close and easy but $15 - $ 20 for a 24' / 24" square. Thanks for do'in my homework for me ! Points !!
