My wood-burning pizza oven is fantastic. It is very efficient, holds heat exceptionally well, etc. I love it but it can be a pain. Finding good wood is hard and it is expensive. Tending the fire is fun but sometimes I don't have the time. I'm going to add a gas burner and wonder if anyone out there has done the same.

I have the burner and safety valve, thermocouple on order. I was going to go with an Avanzini Drago but went with some off the shelf proven parts.

I have not but was thinking about it. I have the same issue getting wood.

Here is a burner I want to try in my oven.

That's a nice burner, and the price is fantastic. I went with the same idea.

I wanted to rough-in for a future gas burner when I was building the oven but was talked out of it - it wouldn't be traditional, I was told. Having thermocouples in the floor and roof would be nice. I would recommend adding thermocouples to anyone building an oven. They are cheap and may come in handy at some point.

I use an IR thermometer to check temps in my oven. I didn't add thermocouples because the technology available superseded thermocouples. The IR thermometer allows me to check all over the oven.

You got a pic of your oven?

Here is mine:

This pic was taken before I finished the walls and roof. I have finished pics on a different device.

Nice oven! I also use an IR thermometer. The thermocouples could be connected to a PID and solenoid to control the gas and temperature.
I'm replacing the fascia this summer.

Very nice work on the exterior. That perlite concrete sure looks familiar.

I used 1 inch stainless steel wires for reinforcement in the concrete that was going to get a lot of heat.

You can see some of the wires in this mix.

Here is a pic of the oven with poured cladding.

I almost built the same oven by Rado. They are well designed. https://www.traditionaloven.com is one of the best sites for building pizza ovens. What did you do on the outside?
The exterior work was my least favourite.
