Any mods for the Centro/MESs?

I didn't get all the way through the sticky on mods today, but most of the thread was looking at thermostats, temperature control, additional heaters and insulation, mostly issues you'd find with the ECBs, I think.

I was wondering if anyone has modded an MES? I have a Centro, same thing, and I noticed that there are definite hot spots particularly above the element (go figure!) which is more to the right side. The vent is on the same side as the element, which makes me think that the heat is going straight up and out of the box. Anyone have any luck making a more convoluted pathway for the smoke/heat to escape in the hopes that its more evenly distributed?

I'm already planning on testing the built-in thermostat, even if it is digital I had some smearing in some sausage sticks and I didn't think I had it set too high so I don't trust it entirely....we shall see...

I have been finding about a 20' difference right to left, the right being hotter. I have submitted this to Masterbuilt and am waiting for an answer soon. I will report anything of importance.

Checking with 4 of those oven rack thermometers and a instant thermometer stuck down thru the top vent I have found my centro mes to be within about 10-15 f of what the digital readout says it is. Which if I rotate the meat from one side to the other about 1/2 way thru the smoke seems to work for me. I always smoke at 235f so even if it drops 15f its not too low. the right side is a bit hotter but for what I cook I don't think it will matter too much. My only mod is a wind screen.
It does make sense to maybe have a baffle directing the heat to the left side, but seems like too much work for me to bother with.

Oh, I hear ya. I have a lot of stuff in the house that requires farting and fiddling with, don't need any more. If its something simple, I'd make time for it.
