Another newbie

Hello all,

I am COMPLETELY new to this forum as well as smoking anything (other than tobacco)! My wife gave me an early Christmas present this year... an electric smoker. Unfortunately I am at work and am unable re recall what brand it is. I actually received this as an early Christmas present so I was able to play with it a little bit. The first batch of jerky was a bit to be desired, but edible (if you were hungry) and the second batch I kept a much closer eye on and it was consumed in a rapid fashion! I tried a chicken and well....it wasn't anything to write home about. Christmas day I attempted a turkey with some reservation. It EXCEEDED my expectations by 10 fold. It was moist and very delicious with a nice smokey flaver, so there may hope for me yet.

I live in the mid Michigan area with my wife and one daughter. My other daughter is a "super" senoir at CMU.

I work in corrections.

Ice fishing is coming soon and that has to be my ultimate form of relaxation. I can sit out there for hours and just let my brains fall from my ears and maybe catch a fish or two. My favorite fish is walleye but with this smoker, that might change.

I am hoping that the members on this forum are going to be extremely helpful, especially for a newbie that has almost no experience and may ask some questions that have been beat to death.
