Another newbie MES 40 ?

Ok. Where do I put my amps tube or maze to keep it going. I know some do it without the mailbox mod.

Looks like my Gen 2. I pulled slant drip tray out of mine completely. Can put tube or tray bottom left. Foil heat shield also if removing slant tray. You will need to pull chip tray out part way for fresh air flow.
Foil your bottom for easier cleanup. Don't rely on MES temps, use a quality digital thermometer and go from there. Congrats...

ditto above except I have always had great luck with the MES digital thermometers/probes. Fortunately, we have calibrated thermometers in our lab (at work) and I could check the MES digital probes against them and they have been within 2 or 3 degrees F at worst.

You can always check them against crushed ice water and boiling water if you don't have access to calibrated thermometers. If it is right at those two points the MES thermometers/probes are probably correct, or correct enough to not be concerned, all through the linear scale.
