Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and I'm going to build a reverse flow smoker out of my old 60 gallon air compressor that died on me. I know it's only 1/8" thick but it's what I have... I've been smoking pork shoulders and brisket for around 10 yrs on the holiday's in the summer. I've always used just an El cheapo offset smoker but I really want to make a reverse flow myself.

I've done some math and drawn up part of the plans and just wanted to get any input y'all might have for me. Thanks

MATERIALS: I HAVE ON HAND
*60 gal. Air Tank (20"×48")
*Several sticks of 1x1x20' square tubing
*Half sheet of expanded metal (leftover from my trailer build)
*Half a sheet of 10 guage steel (leftover from my Toyota Frame repair)
*Several pieces of angle (forget the size right now)

TOOLS:
*Primeweld 60 Plasma
*140 Lincoln mig (.030 wire)
*Pressure pot sandblaster
*Grinders with numerous cut off disks and numerous flap wheels.

Nice score for free! My uncle gave me this smoke stack. It's 5" diameter and about 36" long, so I think it will be plenty big enough.

Looks like you have a good start! My copper pot is out of a 33 gal tank and it works quite well! It does have a 3/8” fire box and making your fire box 1/4” or insulated (if you are using the 10g) on the top and sides will help offset the 1/8 inch CC.

The copper pot tank is 18” dia so it should give you perspective one the cooking space with a 20” dia will be.

That stack will work well!

I need to try and fab me up some hinges today. I'm ready to cut out CC door now. Didn't want to cut it until I make my hinges.

Thanks for the replies!

Made some hinges today and got the CC door cutout.
