So, how does the a-maze-n smoker work with the MES? Is it an external attachment or what? Sounds interesting. I would love to do cold smoke with my MES. Thanks all!

The AMNS (sawdust version) and the AMNPS (pellet version) are designed to go right in the bottom of the MES cooking chamber. Where you place it depends on which MES model you have. On my old MES40, it sat on the rails to the left of the burner/smoke tray assembly, but placement differs by model. IMO the MES and the A-Maze-N are a perfect match.
Many MES owners have done a mailbox mod that makes their AMNPS an external attachment. You can research those mods with this search link:
The mailbox mod seems to be great for those who have problems with air flow in their MES or whatever, but I would try it in your MES first, especially if you have a Gen #1 like Red mentioned, that you can set it on the rails to the left of the chip burner assembly. Mine works perfectly without doing anything fancy or without a mod, and it's so much less hassle if you are lucky enough for it to work like that.
Like Red said, the MES & the AMNS or AMNPS are a perfect match.
The MES is set it & forget it for temp, and once you get your Amazing Smoker working for you, it will give you perfect smoke for up to 12 hours without touching it.
