I have a friend that swears by laying his steak directly on the coal bed. I decided to try something similar on the Akorn. 3 small pieces top sirloin. Laid a grill directly on the burning lump. I'll be doing this again.
It was the best steak I've had in a long time. Those little taters were about the size of big grapes and the golden kind, fantastic with butter and ranch. I'm really liking the Akorn versatility.
