A question on fitting of Weber lids.

Anyone ever try a removable ring? I have a new weber but need it for the grill. I use the drum lid but was thinking I could make a ring with bolts sticking out the outside to stop it from sliding inside. I know it would leak a little but then i could use either lid.

I think it is wort the effort to add a ring or take a grinder and remove the lip from the top of the drum. The lid is powder coated and once you crack it the rust will start a lot sooner. Yes you can use high temp paint. But since you already have a good coating I prefer not to mess it up.

Happy smoken.

I used the outer edge of the flat lid. Welded it to the Weber lid, cut out the center, and put a rope gasket in it. Has worked like a champ for 2 seasons now.

Here is my hinge setup as well.
