Hello,
I am new to smoking, in fact so new I have not smoked once like natta. I live in western Missouri near the Missouri river north of Kansas City, MO. I have been retired from engineering work for several years I spend my time now building and repairing wood furniture and such. I recently built a scale model of the fur trade steamboat, Far West. I am also a historian. I use the 8 1/2' lg steamboat as a prop for my lectures on frontier transportation, Indian Migration in North America, and the History of the Fur Trade in North America.
I do quite a bit of fishing when the weather allows, mostly crappie and walleye.
So, I have been bitten by the smoking bug after tasting some ribs that a member of the family smoked. I have gathered up the materials for a UDS. I need to start fabrication, if it would quit snowing and warm up a tad. I have been reading the web sites on UDS construction, but still have unanswered questions. I am still looking for a Weber dome cover for the UDS
I am going to start out using mulberry wood. The area around where I live is loaded with mulberry trees. I don't mind the mulberry deposits from the birds, I make mulberry pies.
Look forward to receiving experienced comments from members.
Bruce
