I have read a ton and learned a lot. Great place for information.
I have the Mastercraft Sportsman (dreaded version 2) with the side vent.
My question is about placement of the AMNPS inside the cooker. I placed a shelf at the very bottom and put it on it. I then put another shelf above it and covered 1/3 of the self with foil for drippings. The brisket went on the next shelf up.
I did have trouble keeping it lit. I had the starter hole facing the front glass. Should I put the AMNPS at the very bottom of smoker? Starter hole facing which way? Does that even matter?
I also have the pellet loader puller 1-2" out.
I think I am going to do the side vent elbow mod and try again.
