When he sobers up he'll let us know!

LOL, it's still dissolving so not ready to consume. I'll definitely provide my feedback once the sampling is done!

At this point it's mostly dissolved, the color is vibrant and the vodka remains crystal clear. The grape however is not vibrant like the others.

I have a black light and thought it would be interesting to see if it reacts so I'll try that also.

We’ve made excellent limoncello in the past. 100 proof vodka (80 proof will start to form ice crystals in the freezer), and a bunch of de-waxed no-pith lemon peel slices. Soak at room temp for weeks, then filter. There are a bunch of recipes online.
I have lemon tree's, both regular'ol lemons and Myer's, the regular lemons work best for Lemoncello. If you have a smooth drinkable Shine. I used stuff my bud's uncle used to make in the hills of TN, that's the best stuff for lemoncello, oranges make a great Orangecello as well, I used to make 2 gallons of each in June, by December it made great Christmas gifts. I used to order fancy tall bottles with the latching ceramic stoppers, and print up some labels, they were perfect for gifts along with a box of homemade Biscotti, and either apricot or fig jam. (I really need to get back into that habit).

Another good thing to drop into vodka is Star Anise with one sugar cube per quart (think Sambuca), if you like that flavor, or lemon drops are great as well.

As far as the original post goes, my favorite is the sour apple, by far.

Neighbor friends used to make it with everclear and share it some evenings. Went with vodka once, and never went back. So much more drinkable.
A good shine is even better, although my guy passed away a few yrs ago.
And getting a glass 5 gallon Alhambra jug delivered by hand from TN to CA for gas money isn't gonna happen anytime soon. (If ever again). BUMMER!!!

Results are in, it is interesting. I'll rank them by flavor and aroma. I think the higher quality the vodka, the better the results.

STYLE AROMA FLAVOR NOTES
b rasbry 0 4 no smell
Apple 8 9 delish
Watrmln 9 9 very delish
Grape 9 3 cough syrup
Cherry 6 7* not bad, best

Notes: the blue raspberry had no odor at all, the flavor wasn't bad but not outstanding. Apple had a great smell and tasted fantastic. Watermelon both smelled and tasted fantastic. Grape smelled lovely but tasted very much like cough syrup. The flavor not bad at all but making the association with medicine just ruined the experience. *Cherry, smelled good and I thought the flavor was ok but muted. Mrs philpom found it to be the absolute best one so I split the score. It was very drinkable.

We added no extra sugar, sweetness was very mild. We enjoyed them all ice cold. I'd drink them all again except the blue raspberry, watermelon was my favorite followed by apple, Mrs philpom liked cherry the best followed by watermelon.

It was worth the experience and I'm betting Jolley Ranchers will find there way in to our vodka again!

Thoughts?

Cheers

Ok, my attempt to make a table failed, hopefully y'all can figure it out.

Also, none of them were reactive to black light;)

Interesting....

Don't care for vodka, but it got me thinking about gin.

Might pick up some Military Special at the Class VI and give it a try...

Won't risk good gin, but worth a try.

The black raspberry would probably go nice, kind of like Bramble

the other flavors...not so sure although if jolly ranchers come in lemon or lime that would be perfect with gin.
