If your friend is really wanting to get into smoking, then he is especially lucky to have such a good mentor such as you.
Has any particular type of smoker piqued his interest yet?

He wants a low maintenance smoker, set it/forget it.
I told him none are, but that propane, electric and poopers are pretty close.

Yeah, an electric might be good option for him to get his feet wet with.
Unless he wants a pooper for the double duty aspect.
Either way, he is in good hands.
