I went to the specialist last week and found that I tore some ligaments in my ankle. Hopefully no surgery but he doesn't know for sure yet. I have to keep a brace on it for three weeks so I don't keep twisting it and doing more damage. He is hopeful that it will heal on its own if I can keep from re injuring it. He said it will take a good couple of months if everything goes well. I go back in three weeks to have him do some stress testing on it to see how things are going.

Yep, thats a good one!  I see your toes are already turning black...did it in Highschool football once.  I thought the Doc was full of it when he said its not broken.  I think those hurt worse than a break...and take just as long or longer to heal to full strength.  that stinks it messed up your plans...but could be worse.

Now you got me thinkin' about ham hocks

Seriously, Hopefully it's not as bad as it looks.

OUCH !

Take it easy on that so it heals right. I remember when my Dad broke his leg in three places (on home plate). The ligaments didn't heal properly. From that day forward, he couldn't bend his right ankle in the one direction. That was rough, because he was a Carpenter. On a roof he was like a "Hillside Cow", if you know what that is.

Dang RB, your feet are almost as ugly as mine.  I feel for ya, I really do.  Last September I had a nuroma removed from my right foot. The doc told me that he shot a bunch of pain meds into my foot and that I wouldn't feel any pain for a couple or three days and sent me home. That night I figured I could hobble to the bathroom without my crutches and ended up rolling my ankle.  My ankle swelled up and turned an ugly purple just like yours.  A couple of days later I went to see the doc on a follow up and when he unwrapped my foot and saw the swelling and the bruising he asked what the heck I did. He tooks some xrays and said that I had a border-line grade 4 sprain.  He put me in a plaster splint told me to stay off of it and put plenty of ice on the ankle.

Oh-did I mention that the next day my Lang Mobile 60 was delivered?? Yeah-that put a slight crimp in my weekend plans but I did pull off a smoke that consisted of 6 racks of spare ribs and a couple of batches of my Wicked Baked Beans.

Darn, that's hard to deal with about the fatty pork, but it gives me a great excuse for the little woman to roll back on the turkey and cauliflower.

I retired from league play about 15 years ago at about 35 years old. I thought I was Charlie Hustle and kept injuring myself. No more competitive ball for this kid. The heart was there but the body was aging.

Best wishes on your recovery!

Softball = Injury...Just think about it, it is a sport played recreational by a bunch of guys that only play a couple of hours a week, for a few weeks a year. I quit that crap when I took a ball to my inner thigh running to first base. Don't get me wrong I think it is a great sport, but I will never sign up for that again, just not worth it to me.
