I know I am a week late but i wanted to share my ribs. My wife's uncle usually does the ribs but i personally did not care for them. He puts them in the oven for a couple of hours then just bastes them with sauce on the grill til they are done. After everyone tired mine, they unanimously agreed to let me do the BBQ from now on. I felt kind of bad about it, because i did not want him to feel like I was trying to show him up, but he even gave me the nod to take over rib duties. Anyhow I had five slabs. I trimmed them up and let them soak for 9 hours in apple cider and them juice of 4 lemons. I got off at 3 that morning, drained them, dried them, and rubbed them. I put them back in the fridge for another 8 hours. Right before i put them on i put another light dusting of rub on them. I used the 3-2-1 method with kingsford and pecan logs. They came out great! They had great flavor and were very tender. Sorry i didnt take a pic of them slice.

Thanks guys! I dont think my uncle has gotten the smoking bug yet or I would love to show him what I do. And Kwats4, I have tried to make sauces before but i have not found one that i like yet, and quite frankly I prefer most meat without sauce. I have not given up on making a homemade sauce though. I typically like a tomato based sauce, but not with ketchup. Do you have any suggestions? I would love to try something new.

I'm like you on that point, If it's seasoned right then you don't need any sauce. But I do like a nice sweet with alot of heat, you know something on the back of the throat and feel the burn abit.

Thanks oldschoolbbq!

Kwats4 what kind of sauce do you prefer or do you make your own? When i do use sauce i like it that way as well.

I like the one that came with Jeff's recipes.  BUT...if they are done right...who needs sauce!  Just sayin
