I know there has been a lot of discussion about the MES 40" vs 30" heating. Has anyone added a second element to the 40 to help with pre-heating and recovery time? I was thinking about wiring in a second element with a switch and using it primarily for pre-heating and recovery time when meat is added. Any thoughts on whether or not thats a good idea?

I have both of them and I have never noticed a problem with them, in fact I did a brisket flat Saturday in the 40" and with the smoker set at 235° it sat at 232° until the brisket was done.

I do preheat up to 275° normally then when I put the meat in I turn down to the temp I want to smoke at
