I just got a recent tec 680. I have cook on a Uds but not a pellet smoker. What's the best way to go about cooking this beast and how long will.ot take.

Not sure on the time, I just did 2 earlier this week total of 20#. Time was completely different on both pieces. IT is the only way to go. depending on your temp you are cooking at the big guy could be anywhere from 8-18hrs. What temp will you be cooking at? Pan any fluid in it, or wrapping at any time? all that will play into it as well. You have a great smoker to do it on. Here is the link to my smoke I did.

That’s one big butt, and I cannot lie :p I would say that thing is going to take awhile. I just did a 10lb and it took about 12 hours but each one is different. I would just plan on a long smoke. Can always wrap it in a cooler if you need to save it for a couple hours. Good luck and post some pics of the final product.
 
I'm using a rub I made I'm on the fence about injecting I've read that it increases cooking time.
 
That's probably two butts in one package. At least I've never seen one butt weigh that much. Either way, good luck, enjoy the process and some great chow at the end.

I never used to inject mine and then one weekend on a whim I had to do 4 butts for a party and decided to inject 2 of them. Did the same rub on all and everyone raved about the injected butts. I have always injected them now.

What do you use for an injection if you don't mind me asking
 
There is a local bbq store that makes a great injection that I normally just buy, it’s their own blend. Last time I did my own with a little Apple juice, apple cider vinegar, added a little garlic powder and onion powder, salt, and Worcestershire sauce, this concoction was a total gamble as I had never done my own before and turned out well.
