Cherry has a lot of pitch in it, at least in my neighborhood.

Cherry hardwood cabinet wood has a lot of black streaks in it, that we call pitch pockets.

I wonder if that "pitch" has anything to do with the burning problem.

I know it clogged my belt sander belts worse than any other hardwood !!!
