I was asked to do some pulled pork for a work day event at our church. So of course im gonna do it. Any reason to fire up the smoker is a good reason right?

Started 2 shoulders last night about 1900. Coated with rub and smoked with pecan between 225-250.

rubbed and ready to go

GOSM was going strong and holding steady. At 2hrs I added some wood, spritz'd with AJ, and added a coating of rub.

Checked it every 2 hours after this. I was expecting to foil at 0400 but it was still only in the 150 range. Its been a while since I had a shoulder take this long to get to foil. Finally at 0800 it was at 167. I did check the temps with my ET-72 and my Taylor weekend warrior and it was spot on so its just a difficult shoulder. Here it is at foiling. Added AJ to the pan and sealed.

They are in the 170 range now so they should be done in no time. Should be some good eats. Ill post more pictures as the story unfolds. Thanks for looking.

Lookin' good Brian!

Keep the pics coming.

Don't do that to me--Your title had me flying into this thread expecting to see the biggest shoulder I've ever seen!

Almost broke my typing finger to get here.

Man those look good. Especially that little piece that fell off in the first pic in the pans. That shouldn't be foiled.

They tasted good.

Shoulders are at 201. Almost cooler time.

They are resting right now. I have to run to the store in a bit and will have final pictures when Im back.

Looks great Brian, I sure hope everyone enjoys as well as appreciates the hard work.

So shortly after I posted my last response I get a call saying were done early can you bring the food down now. Its done so no problem. Grab the cooler and the carolina gold sauce and went down. Get there and I realized CRAP! no camera. So no finished pictures. Flavor was good. Great smoke penetration. Sorry for no finished shots guys. Theres always next time.

Thanks for looking.

Well they sure looked good from the pics you were able to post. Nice job. Got my mouth watering

Well thats alright there Brian we all have opps here lately. The pictures of the first part of the smoke sure leaves a good thoughts in our heads. I can just imagen how good it is for those other q-view.

I did the same thing Bearcarver did and about broke my mouse getting over to this post thinking it was a 16 pound shoulder from Pig-liath.

Looks great.  I bet the AJ in the foil pan gives it a great aromatic character.

Nice job Brian, posts like this are going to make me do some butt's and shoulders....I guess it's time to empty some more of the freezer ... .It looks really good,  I know it will be  a hit at church
