Like many of you I always head over to the meat dept to see if there is any deals and I just happen to stumble on this brisket. It was the only one there and the price tag read $8.06! The meat guy was right next to me putting meat out for the day (it was 6am) so I picked it up to see if there was another tag and there wasn't.

Not sure what happened but I didn't ask, it was mine! I hurried up to the self serve register and it rang up for $8.06. I gladly paid for my groceries, this beats the $.75 whole chicken I got awhile back by far.

After getting it home it weighed in at 14.4 pounds! Although it's a Select cut I'm not complaining.

I may need to split the point from the flat in order for it to fit in my smoker, anyone have any luck doing this?

I have to split to get in my mes 30. I cook the point and flat on different racks and then stack on top of each other when it's time to wrap.

I am sorry but that is not right.  Especially since it says "beef chuck riblet rack" on the tag...somebody switched a price tag  or it was errantly put on the brisket.   Did you ask the meat department if that was accurate... no .. you knew it wasn't.   It is not the morally right thing to do in my opinion.

Nice find. You can't run around making sure everyone is competent @ their job. Enjoy the brisket & the savings
