Local fb has a new in box 14” WSM listed for sale. Any on her run one? Is it big enough for 2 pork butts? Seems like a good deal but not sure if it’s tooooo small. Would probably use it for a chicken or 2 and a couple butts.

Not a 14”, but have an 18” I got on a really good deal years ago. I can tell you with my 18 it’s a bit cramped to do some cooks. I wish it was the 22” some days.

That being said, a turkey fills the top grate of the 18”

Not sure unless the butts were halved or somehow else configured to fit two in. Smaller chickens, you could likely pull that off. Ribs, you’d likely have to cut in half with spares or BB’s.

My 18” had two grates for cooking, though I usually just cook on the top and use the second as a drippings catcher.

Looking up the 14, it has the same setup…

What price they selling it? If it’s reasonable, be a nice little smoker. They are at $279 on the Zon of Ama right now.

I have 2 homemade 14"WSM's... It use's the Weber Smokey Joe with a 32 quart steamer pot ... Basically the same size as yours... I can get 2 beer can chickens in at the same time... Have not tried 2 butts but have done one with no problem... They are awesome little fuel efficient smokers..

As Keith said and sorry… my memory was just jogged from his post.

I built a mini WSM a while ago… Very fuel efficient and easy to maintain temps.

So, if the sale doesn’t work out… a 14”Weber, a tamale kettle and some hardware… you’d be in business.

I've had my 14.5" WSM for quite a few years now.

I've only done single butts but I have done a few brisket points and flats using both racks as a full packer doesn't fit.Ive never been able to finish on one load without wrapping,at that point it's just easier to finish in the oven as the bark is fully set and the smoke flavor is more than there.

EDIT--sorry, I didn't read first post carefully ie 14".

Fuggedaboudit. Unless you are never going to host and only have 1-2 people to feed, smallest I'd go is 18.

====

I've done a 14lb brisket on my 18. I could put a second one in but hell, I have enough trouble eating a 14 lb'r.

OR

Put 6 full racks of ribs if you want.

OR

You could probably put 6 butts on there as well (depending on size) BUT the biggest butts I can get are only 5 lb so ya, I could put 6 in there as well.

The ONLY issue is with so much meat, they are a HUGE heatsink and would take a lot of fuel to keep up the temps.

I ran one for years. It does require some creativity to get larger puts on there. 2 butts probably wouldnt fly. I used a rib rack and cut the racks in half to get them in.

Fun smoker, learned a lot on that one. I added a partyQ to it which simplified the whole thing.

I have a 14" that I got on clearance several years back . I've never wished I had gone bigger , but I have other options for more room .
Never tried 2 butts , but really don't see why you couldn't . Should fit with one on each rack .

Like said above , great fun to cook on . I don't use mine as much as I should .

Harry Soo, who has won everything you can win while cooking exclusively on WSM cookers, once entered a KCBS contest (brisket, pork butt, ribs, chicken, plus a side entry of dessert) using ONLY one 14" WSM, built up from a Smokey Jo and a tamale kettle, as described above. The KCBS contest meat turn-ins are only 30 minutes apart, so one needs to have everything done at almost the same time. Harry did it as a one-off, just to show he could, but he still got 'walks' (top 10 finishes, in the prize money) in 4 of the 5 events, and also finished 10th overall.

So yeah, one can do amazing things on a 14" WSM. That said, I'm glad I have the 18", and there are days when I wish it was a 22".

Thanks guys. The person never replied to my message so it must have sold or been too good to be true. I do have my money Joe that sits on the shelf. Maybe I’ll turn that h to a project

So if you guys like your Weber kettles, I have the discontinued "outrider" that I don't use anymore. Has been for sale but I just never got any hits on it🤔😞. You would think a nice 18 inch Weber that's been updated with mods plus some nice accessories would be appreciated at a hundred bucks, but maybe I'm wrong 🙄. I mean it's sweet and I've always been kinda proud of it. Don't know if it can still be pulled up on marketplace for central Illinois, but there's some awesome photos on there about it including some of the cooks I pulled off on the kettle. The outriders are slightly bigger than the jumbo joes I think.

Would never hurt to post it in the Classifieds here.
